Catching you up-to-date

So it seems that in order to keep so many people, that are interested and praying for me, up to date that I will start keeping a blog.

Up Until Now

In February of 2024 I left First Baptist Church of Avon Park, Florida to lead First Baptist Church of Walhalla, SC through a revitalization process. In the one year and almost 8 months that I have been here in Walhalla I have been building a relationship with the church members.

On June 4 I discovered a small growth, which I later learned was a tumor, on my neck. I didn't think much of it and we went on vacation in Florida for a week. Over that week I noticed it began to grow so I decided to see my General Practitioner.

It took about two weeks to see the GP. When I went, the GP told me it was from an abscessed tooth and that I needed to see an Oral Surgeon. July 11 was the earliest I could see the oral surgeon.

So at this point I'm a little over a month from finding the grown which has now growth to over 2 inches. The oral surgeon went in and found an issue with my jaw and gum and removed two front teeth. He also said that the growth had nothing to do with my oral health and I needed to go to an Ear, Nose, and Throat Doctor.

I had to wait a few more weeks for the appointment and on July 29 I saw a local ENT doctor. He immediately told me it was a tumor. By this time it was over 4 inches. He told me he felt that it was cancer and we needed to move on it quickly.

He referred me to a specialist ENT surgery group that is connected with the Prism Hospital in Greenville, SC.

Saw the specialist yesterday. He did 2 cancer biopsies - 1 on my neck and 1 inside my mouth. Results should be available Tuesday. He told me the my chances are not good and that he believes it is cancer. He is already getting surgery lined up to remove it. He says that the surgery will be major and take two surgery specialists to complete. I should find out when the surgery will be in the next few days.

I have had over 100 friends and acquaintances contact me in the last 24 hours. Your prayers mean a lot. Please just remember through this that:

God is good even when our circumstances aren't.
God owes me nothing. He has already given me everything in Jesus.
Whether I have a short life left or a long life ahead, I want it to Glorify Jesus.
